My child has been at this school for 2 years and is doing very well. She participates in the Spanish immersion program which has helped to keep her engaged and challenged. I disagree with the comment that "children are taught to take orders, not to think." My child knows to respect her teachers, but she absolutely has a voice of her own and knows how to communicate and advocate for herself. The former was taught by her teachers and reinforced by us, the latter, taught by us and reinforced by her teachers. That being said, if you ever have an issue, I suggest reaching out to the teacher or principal to resolve it. I have done so myself, and have never had any problem resolving whatever my concern was. As I previously mentioned, this school is not a right fit for everyone. It's not a Montessori, Goddard-type, or gifted model. If your child struggles with following rules, paying attention, and completing homework daily, they may not be happy here. But there must be something to the curriculum if there's a waitlist to get in, and test scores are high year after year. My advice? Do the research and decide for yourself.

Not great. They are teaching kids to take orders, but not to think.

This is my son's first year here in 4th grade. I'm seriously regretting my decision to put him here after his old school wasn't challenging enough and really couldn't serve his needs as a gifted student. My son is struggling here and it's because they don't teach to the student, they teach to the curriculum. He stopped doing phonograms in 1st grade, they still do them at this school and he's expected to know them all. They teach a grade above in math, again, it's now fallen on our shoulders as parents to teach the gaps in learning. Homework is a lot and mostly busy work. He's really struggling with playing catch-up with the kids who have been at this school since Kindergarten. He has little to no room for leniency in grading or anything else and was actually sent to the Dean of Students to be told what it actually means to be a student there and what his "job" is as a student. I wasn't told this was going to happen either. I'm really disappointed in his experience so far.

So far I absolutely love it. My son started kinder a little behind and within weeks he was in an after school program for 20 minutes that really made a difference. After a month he was back on track. They are great, so helpful and very kind!!
