I like this school very much. A good principal, great concerned and highly educated teachers an accelerated curriculum, support staff for disabilities are knowledgeable and caring. cafeteria food ehhh. focus is on music, bullying not tolerated.

I go to this school, and my experience has been much better than my previous schools.

The Renaissance Gifted and Music program is what all education should be- a balanced mix of strong academics; teachers who are well educated and committed to their craft; Foreign language starting in kindergarten; art and music opportunities including orchestra, chorus, band, musical theater, handbell choir; small classes in a big school that offers top ranked sports programs and great variety of academic teams and clubs (including state champion Rubik's cube, math, FLL Robotics and Battle of the Books teams). This a truly unique program that is tuition free and offers opportunities found no where else in Deer Valley School District or any neighboring districts.

I have never been so disappointed with Highland Lakes Elementary School. My daughter has been called to the principles office due to her being bullied, I never once heard from anyone at the school. Isn't this something the school should be sharing with her parents? I had the same experience last year when a teacher knew of a bullying situation, the bullies were punished but the victim's family was not notified. When I reached out to the teacher his response was .."well it is the last few days of school and she won't be around those kids much longer, I figured the vice principal would notify you". A lot of times kids are scared to tell their parents of these types of situations, I would expect the teacher and the vice principal to keep us parents in the loop if there is an issue. Once again another situation where there is a "mean girl" calling names and embarassing my daughter when she went to her teacher the response was "stop with the drama". This is very concerning and unacceptable. I am about to pull my child from this school. They have really let me and my daughter down.
