I have 3 children that attend this school. One is being tested for a learning disability that the teachers caught early. I am so thankful for the focus that the staff gives and the prompt attention to any bullying present.

Of course I am a parent with a bias however, in my experience, Mendoza is the worst school my child has ever gone to. There is still a bullying problem except it doesn't stem from the kids: it stems from the environment created from the top down which is mainly the 6th grade teachers who create an atmosphere of distrust and anxiety. Bottom line, its the most conservative city in America and there is little funding, the teachers are immature and angry (my child tells me that one of his teachers spends a lot of time on a cell phone during class!), the leadership has no spine, and the work is defined by the most sub-par standards I have ever seen (kids will work on one book report for a whole quarter and nothing else). I am a strong believer in public education, but because of the recent budget cuts to education in Arizona (thanks voters), I strongly believe that this school will be on the chopping block soon. Due to its low enrollment, low testing scores, complaints, and bad leadership, Mendoza is bound to either disappear or go through a major overhaul.

I love mendoza this is my child 2nd year there. She says yes there is a little of bully's most are in her grade and up. But mendoza is a great school she loves it. They always have somthing going on at school they have festivals if your child wants to do orchestra or band mendoza is a great school...

My child has gone to Mendoza for 2 years now and we are taking switching him out for the next school year. Overall, Mendoza is just an average school. However, their bully problem has gotten completely out of hand. My child has been disciplined on several occasions for sticking up for himself while the bully, who started the issues, gets no punishment at all. The homework is completely pointless an non-challenging. So pointless, the teachers dont even review it. They just have the students bring in signed sheets from the parents, saying the homework was done. My phone calls to the teacher this year, are rarely returned and my requests for some kind of assistance with my child being bullied have been completely ignored by Dr Ashton and the teachers. Hopefully, as Dr Ashton continues to grow as a principal he gets a better handle on this stuff.
