As a parent of a chaparral student, I can tell you that the office staff is not friendly in person or on the phone. The guidance counselor I emailed over the summer which was four months ago, never got back to me nor did she return my call. My child comes home always feeling like a number and not a student. In my opinion as a parent, chaparral is overrated and I would look for other alternatives.

My son is a senior at Chaparral and it has been an overwhelmingly positive experience. Last year's administration woes were an unfortunate bump in the road, but we have been very pleased with the decision to send him here. The teachers have been great, the honors / AP curriculum is challenging and prepares them well, and the opportunities for things like arts / music and sports have been A+. Chaparral is a well rounded school and you're going to get more than just great academics - we considered BASIS, but decided that an all around high school experience was really important! We have been very pleased at Chap and look forward to sending our younger children there over the next few years.

HUGE HUGE disappointment. We specifically bought a house in this school district because of all the positive reviews. All fake hype in my opinion. The way they treat new students is appalable. Unfortunately we arrived the day before school started so our daughter missed school orientation the prior week. We got her schedule the day before school started and basically we were told she was on her own. Oh they were kind enough to give her a map to help navigate her way through a campus she had never set foot on! How generous right. The counselor seemed put out I had Even suggested having a fellow student show her around. Who cares she didn’t know a soul and it was her first day. Basically they throw new kids to the wolves. Parents beware. Sadly Overrated and over hyped.

My son is a freshman st CHS, and part of the largest freshman class. The staff and teachers appear to be dedicated to the kids learning and success. They are positive and provide an array of activities for kids to explore creativity, join clubs, expand their minds and develop ideas which some of which have landed these kids scholarships. I am impressed with the educational ratings nationwide and encourage my son to strive for success even at this early stage. Athletics are ranked with success and we hope to be involved in baseball and basketball! Thank you Principal Holland and all of the educators and staff for your continued support for all students and athletes in helping them achieve their goals! - Suzi
