We have been a Colina family for the last five years and our experience has been very positive. Most of the teachers have been great and I believe are genuinely invested in the growth and development of their children. The quality of education provided at Colina is high, reflected in scores above state averages on AIMS and AZ merit, and the recent award of an A+ rating. The principal and vice principal are excellent and create an encouraging learning environment. There is a strong sense of inclusion fostered by both the staff and the very active PTO, making Colina a neighborhood school that is a strong part of the local community. We have found many Colina families to be very involved in school activities and willing to partner with the school to support the education of the students.Unfortunately, we have seen quite a bit of teacher turn-over during our time at Colina and several very strong teachers have left over the past few years. I suspect this is more of a reflection of a larger statewide issue than conditions at Colina specifically, but it was still disappointing to watch. We are quite happy that our children have had the opportunity to attend this school and would certainly recommend it to others.

We left our charter school with much hesitation. Now the only regret is that we didn't go to De La Colina sooner. It's our neighborhood school. We are blown away by the families, staff and admin. Ms Brunner is amazing. My kids are excited everyday to get to school. My oldest struggled in math and was placed in Ms. Larsens class. This teacher went above and beyond to get her to grade level. She also has a way of really connecting to her 5th grade class. Our first year at Colina has been our best year thus far.

This is a community- not just a school. The scores dropped due to some gifted programs being pulled into a single Ahwatukee school- this takes high scoring kids and families away. However, the school has wonderful and talented teachers, one of the most amazing principals you could ever wish for, and dedicated families that provide an environment to grow whole, happy, and balances kids. This school is smaller than some others- which allows for a family feel. There is too much transition with people bouncing from school to school in this day and age- this neighborhood welcomes everyone and they want you to stay and be engaged. Visit and you will love it!
