It is undoubtedly a horrible school. The only positive is that from my experience, most of the teachers I had were alright, some taught better than others. My 10th grade history teacher, 11th grade science teacher, and my 9th & 10th grade English teachers were fantastic. The bigger issue with the school is the rest of the administration and the students. The nurses don't care if you're on the verge of death, they just send you back to class after telling you to drink water. Several years ago, there were a couple cases of teachers engaging in sexual behavior with students. The bullying is as bad as the other reviews say they are. The students are rude, racist and homophobic and most of them do drugs. The NAACP had to get involved at one point because there were many Latino and African American students being bullied for their race. A lot of poor kids get made fun of by the kids with more money. And there is an over emphasis on sports (especially football) for extracurricular, most other after school activities go completely ignored, and often times unsupported. I ultimately couldn't continue going to that school so I ended up moving.

The administration staff is woefully inadequate and have no formal training in health and safety issues. I would recommend to parents to seek attendance elsewhere. Some of the teachers are magnificent, others not so much. They need a new dedicated administrative staff who care about students, their progress and safety.

My son was a freshman at Ironwood Ridge during the 2015-2016 school year. He had a great experience. Moving from a small town in Arizona to this school has been great, as the school offers many more choices as to advanced placement courses and after school activities than were available at his previous school.

I have two children that have gone through Ironwood Ridge high school. I have found the coursework at Ironwood to be more advanced than most high schools in the area and the majority of the teachers to be very good. Their clubs and athletic programs are outstanding. Both of my children are minority students and neither one has felt any bullying or racial tension at this high school. Many of their friends who graduated from other local high schools with same type of grades found college very difficult while my sons have found it fairly easy. In my opinion it's one of the best high schools in the state. I was a teacher at several high schools in another state and would loved to have taught at this school. With 2000 students at this school it's amazing how few comments are on this website in the last few years.
