Sunrise-based GL Homes has purchased a golf course in Delray Beach and plans to build 324 single-family homes, per The Real Deal.

An affiliate of the developer paid $10 million for the Polo Trace Golf and Country Club at 13479 Hagen Road. GL Homes received approval earlier this year to build 325 homes at the site. GL Homes’ Larry Portnoy said the company will build 324 homes, with site work set to begin in June.

Details about the homes have not yet been released, but GL Homes has several other projects in the area. The Seven Bridges development in Delray Beach features a range of options, including 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom homes priced from $780,000 to 6-bedroom, 8-bathroom homes priced from $1,935,900. Amenities include a 30,000-square-foot clubhouse, two card salons, game room, kids’ room, indoor sports court for basketball and volleyball, and resort-style pool with shade cabanas.

GL Homes is also building Valencia Bay, a single-family home development for residents over 55 in nearby in Boynton Beach. Prices for those homes range from $567,900 for a 2-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom to $935,900 for a 4-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom.

The Polo Trace Golf and Country Club is the latest golf course in South Florida to be purchased with plans to build single-family homes. Miami-based 13th Floor Homes has several projects either completed or in the works throughout the area. The company built communities on the former Monterey and Sabal Palm Golf Courses in Tamarac and on an 18-hole golf course in the Avalon Trails community in Delray Beach.

The company is pursuing plans to build 525 single-family homes at Woodlands Golf & Country Club in Tamarac. Homes would have a minimum of 2,000 square feet with at least three bedrooms and prices in the high $300,000s. 13th Floor homes is also eyeing the Carolina Club golf course on North Rock Island Road in Margate with plans to build 350 single-family homes and townhouses, per The Real Deal. Prices for the homes would start in the $400,000s and townhomes in the $300,000s.

GL Homes recently bought the Boca Raton Municipal Golf Course for $65 million, where it plans to replace the 27-hole, 194-acre course with a community of 500 homes. Earlier this month, the city of Boca Raton and its Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District bought the 27-hole Ocean Breeze course for $24 million. Plans for that site have not yet been released.
