Private developer Olson Land Opportunities II, LLC has filed a request to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to purchase a 9.5-acre parcel of vacant land at 13024 Salinas Ave. in the unincorporated community of Willowbrook for $3 million. If the sale is approved, the group plans to build 94 single-family residences on the empty property. The undeveloped area is currently owned by the Los Angeles County Housing Authority.

If the proposals are confirmed, the developer would be required to dedicate 30 homes to low-income and moderate-income homebuyers. The terms of the agreement detail that for a period of 45 years, 11 residences would be set aside for low-income, while 19 residences would be for moderate-income households.

If there are no issues with the purchase, the developer plans to immediately begin construction on the collection of homes. They would complete the massive project as early as 2018.

Willowbrook is bordered by the 110 and 105 Highways and surrounded by South LA communities such as Compton, Watts, and Harbor Gateway. The area is most notable for its medical facilities, such as the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and newly renovated Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center.
