Carlos Zapata-Designed Condo Tower Coming to Miami's Arts District
Known for striking buildings in New York City, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi, architect Carlos Zapata has designed a new condo tower in Miami’s expanding Arts and Entertainment District, according to Curbed.
The 45-story condo tower will include 457 units at 31 N.E. 14th Street per its developer, NR Investments. On the same lot, a separate, 11-story tower will include 150 hotel rooms and 30,000 square feet of office space. Both towers required rezoning and have already been approved by the city’s Planning, Zoning, and Appeals Board, according to The Next Miami.
Zapata is the principal architect at his namesake studio, Carlos Zapata Studio. Zapata previously designed Concourse J at the Miami International Airport. Abroad, the studio has recently worked on projects in Angola and Singapore.
The Zapata-designed tower is just across from a new, 710-unit apartment complex that wrapped up construction at the end of September. Elsewhere in the district, a 30-story residential tower is in the works, along with restaurant and retail contributing to its “burgeoning urban village” feel.
