The U.S. Homes Price Index from property information and data company CoreLogic has found that home prices in the Chicago, Naperville, and Arlington Heights area rose 3.9 percent in August compared to August 2016, according to Chicago Agent Magazine.

The report also found that home prices in the same area increased 0.3 percent year-over-year in July. Home prices in Illinois as a whole jumped 3.8 percent.

Chicago home values are slightly lagging compared to national prices. The report found that national home prices increased 6.9 percent from August 2016 to August 2017.

“While growth in home sales has stalled due to a lack of inventory during the last few months, the tight inventory has actually helped stabilize price growth,” CoreLogic’s chief economist Dr. Frank Nothaft said in the report.
