Figures compiled by Midwest Real Estate Data and released by the Chicago Association of Realtors reveal a significant jump in October homes under contract, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. Compared to the same period last year, the number of homes in Chicago that went under contract in the month of October was up more than 14 percent. 

In October 2016, 1,816 homes went under contract in Chicago. This October, a total of 2,074 homes went under contract, according to the report. 

Single-family homes saw the biggest increase in sales. This October, 955 single-family homes went under contract compared to 783 last October — a 22 percent increase. Condos and townhouses saw an eight percent jump in contracts from 1,033 last year to 1,119 this year.

Last October could have been a slow month due to the fervor surrounding the World Series and the upcoming election, according to the report.
