With the glut of luxury condos on the market in South Florida, developers are upping the ante when it comes to amenities. Pools, fitness centers, tot lots, and other traditional offerings are no longer enough. By adding brand-name restaurants complete with master chefs and haute cuisine on location, many builders are finding success with buyers who are attracted to a top notch culinary experience right at home. Though the establishments are also open to the public, the restaurants are located within the developments so residents don’t even have to walk outside.

Here’s a sampling of these culinary condos.

Floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious walk-in closets, and rooftop pools are standard with luxury residences in South Florida. But residents at SLS Lux Brickell Hotel & Residences will also be able to enjoy luxury dining, including Katsuya, an offering by master sushi chef Katsuya Uechi. This will be the second location in Miami; there’s another at SLS Hotel South Beach and a total of 13 locations around the world.

The restaurant, created by designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, is expected to open in June. It’ll mirror a traditional Japanese izakaya (informal Japanese pub) with modern features. The focal point of the sleek, minimalistic dining room will be a Daruma doll-inspired art installation suspended from the ceiling. With room for 180 diners, the 6,537-square-foot space will also offer a private dining room.

Paraiso District – Edgewater

Paraiso District residents can enjoy Amara, a 4,500-square-foot indoor/outdoor space designed by Meyer Davis Studio. Featuring sweeping views of Biscayne Bay, the restaurant melds Latin American flavors with coastal ingredients in a setting that includes a main dining room and bar, along with deck seating. The district is a new neighborhood rising on seven city blocks in East Edgewater and consisting of four new residential towers—Gran Paraiso, One Paraiso, Paraiso Bay, and Paraiso Bayviews.

Residents at the new Icon Las Olas in Downtown Fort Lauderdale will soon be able to dine at Etaru Fort Lauderdale, a modern Japanese robatayaki (“fireside-cooking”), or robata for short. For the uninitiated, robata is a method of cooking, similar to barbeque, which involves cooking food at varying speeds over hot charcoal. The food usually consists of small portions of fish or vegetables, but other kinds of food are also used. Etaru describes itself as a neighborhood restaurant with “a vibe that embraces the South Florida scene.”

The restaurant, which has a sister location in Hallandale Beach, will offer many of the same features with a menu of sashimi, maki, and craft cocktails. The indoor/outdoor space will include touches of wood and industrial design elements. A treelike structure will be the centerpiece of the restaurant, alongside the robata grill, which will be housed in an open kitchen to allow guests to watch Etaru's chefs in action.

W Residences – Fort Lauderdale Beach

After they’ve spent the day at the beach, residents of W Residences have their choice of three high-end restaurants. Recently opened, El Vez, a venue by James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr, features Mexican fare and an indoor/outdoor bar with lounge seating and patio space for cornhole and shuffleboard. Also on site are Steak 954, another Stephen Starr offering with a modern take on the traditional steakhouse, and Sushi Bar.
