A pair of single-family homes in Mid-City were recently torn down in order to make way for a new development, which would bring eight single-family, small lot residences to the neighborhood. The city’s planning department has already approved the proposed residential project, called St. Charles Courtyards.

The Los Angeles -based architecture company, Tracy A. Stone Architect, has been tapped to design the project. According to Urbanize, the collection of small lot homes are slated for two parcels, located at 4723-4727 St. Charles Place. The eight residences will be placed together to form a U-shape as the developer plans to feature a central courtyard.

The project will bring a mix of three- and four-bedroom single-family dwellings to the area, each ranging between 2,275 and 2,575 square feet. Not only will the contemporary homes rise three stories, the developer also wants them to embody an East Coast aesthetic, specifically the style often found in Cape Cod. Renderings for the project show a set of black and white wood-paneled structures that give off both a modern feel and traditional design.

Each dwelling will come with an attached two-car garage and a 300- to 400-square-foot roof deck that will include views of Century City, Hollywood, and Downtown. Residents will also have access to the landscaped courtyard and walking pathway.
