Given its beautiful weather and tourist attractions, it would stand to reason that Los Angeles is photographed pretty often. According to Architectural Digest, it was actually the sixth-most Instagrammed city in the world this past year.

Architectural Digest calls out the eminently photographable Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the Arts District’s Museum of Ice Cream installation as two of the biggest attractions this year. But there are plenty of others likely to rank highly as well. Tourists still flock to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Hollywood sign. Considering the team’s deep playoff run, it would be no surprise to see a litany of photos from Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park all summer and fall. Plus with the Rams, Clippers, Lakers, and USC all playing games in LA proper as well, it’s no shock that would result in quite a few Instagram photos.

The popularity of 2016’s “La La Land” may have also helped a bit, too. For some county residents, perhaps it unveiled new spots to check out around the city. For tourists, maybe it added even more must-capture pictures to the list while they trekked around LA.

One would also wonder if this list, which Instagram shared itself, is limited to just the city of Los Angeles, or if it expands out to other photogenic parts of the county as well. Santa Monica, particularly, is its own city, as is Pasadena (home to the Rose Bowl and its famed sunsets.)

Those cities, plus other locales (depending on how Instagram categorizes Venice, Beverly Hills, etc.) likely get their own fair share of pics as well. If they were left out of the tally, it would be interesting to see just how much higher LA could climb the rankings with those cities included.
