Being called the first solar-powered city, Babcock Ranch—developed by Kitson & Partners—will be powered by a 443-acre photovoltaic power plant that should produce 75 megawatts of power to run the town. Green building standards of the homes in the community will help lower energy bills for residents, too.

Lennar plans to build 180 homes at Babcock Ranch, with twin-villa floor plans starting at $180,000 and single-family homes starting in the $220,000s.

The project broke ground in Miami on Earth Day in 2016 and started opening model homes early this year. When the community is fully finished in about 25 years, it should have 19,500 households and 50,000 residents.
