The City of Chicago approved funds for a mixed-use development in Little Italy over the summer. The development will feature a new Roosevelt Library, as well as mixed-income apartments. The Little Italy Chicago Neighborhood Association may take the city to court to get answers to questions about the project, according to a Gazette Chicago report.

The neighborhood association announced plans to work with an attorney to obtain a temporary restraining order for the project, according to the report. Leaders from the Little Italy Chicago Neighborhood Association say the Chicago Public Library, Chicago Housing Authority, and developer Related Midwest have not given satisfactory answers to questions about the development.

More than 660 neighborhood residents signed petitions in opposition to the Roosevelt Square development, according to the report. Residents are concerned about a number of factors, including what will happen to the community garden that could be affected by new construction.

Attorney Enrico J. Mirabelli has agreed to represent the neighborhood association on a pro bono basis, according to the report.
