Corporate profits won’t be the only thing green at Legacy West in Plano. The $3 billion, 250-acre mixed-use development on Dallas North Tollway will soon get a city park, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The City of Plano paid Karahan Companies, the developer of Legacy West Urban Village, almost $10 million for seven acres between the Urban Village and the J.C. Penney headquarters where it will build the park. The park is initially planned as just a green space, but Plano’s park department hopes to eventually make improvements to the area.

The Legacy West workforce will soon include 20,000 employees, and thousands of people will live in luxury condos, apartments, and houses in the Urban Village.

Fehmi Karahan, CEO of Karahan Companies, told the News that he's glad to see the land used for open space.

"It's a nice property with lots of large trees," Karahan said.
