A development proposed for a commercial property in Park Ridge will not be moving ahead, according to the Chicago Tribune. The project would have brought a group of 19 townhomes and a two-story medical office building to 1440 Higgins Road.

The Park Ridge City Council rejected the idea. Aldermen voted unanimously against granting the project a special permit, according to the report. The majority of alderman want to see a commercial development, rather than a residential one for the property.

"I think there's still a half-dozen major flaws in the plan. We want to keep it commercial down there. I think that makes much more sense,” said Alderman Gail Wilkening (3rd Ward), according to the report.

The city’s plan commission also rejected the plan prior to the City Council vote, according to the report.
