Plan for 13 Lincoln Park Townhomes Met with Alderman Resistance
Architecture and interior design firm ZDS proposed 13 new townhomes for a site in Lincoln Park, but the project did not receive alderman backing, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd Ward) decided not to support the project based on community feedback. Residents of the neighborhood thought the density of the development was a concern, according to the report.
Railroad tracks currently cross the site in question. Neighborhood residents discussed alternate uses for the site, including open space, according to the report.
The townhomes were going to feature four bedrooms each and come with a $1 million price tag. Zev Salomon, a principal of ZDS, thought the $1 million price was fairly unique for the neighborhood, according to the report.
Since the project failed to secure alderman support, it will likely not come to fruition. City Council generally looks to wards’ aldermen to make a decision, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
