The median home price in San Diego County went up 8.1 percent in September to $535,000 while the number of sold homes dropped by 6.2 percent (3,553 homes sold). According to Andrew LePage of CoreLogic, this could be a reflection of “the region-wide strengthening of home prices, which has boosted homeowner equity and helped spur consumer spending and economic growth.”

The monthly report also stated that delays in sales could have been due to winter rains earlier this year. Another contributing factor could be the lack of homes on the market. From data collected by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors, active home listings have declined steadily since 2009.

The median sales price of a home in Southern California has gone up 9.8 percent since September 2016 from $460,000 to $500,000. In September, sales were down 12.9 percent from August (20,956 new and resale houses and condos compared to 24,055) overall across San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino, and Ventura.
