Looks like the Sears Complex in Boyle Heights won’t be the only Sears undergoing a revamp in the city. Real estate investment firm Seritage Growth Properties plans to spend $50 million to renovate the currently vacant Sears on Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica. The project will repurpose the shuttered building into a trendy mixed-use structure called The Mark 302.

Per The Real Deal, the upcoming Mark 302 will have a fancy rooftop deck with landscaping and upscale furnishes, new creative office spaces, and even a beer garden overlooking the ocean.

Based from the renderings, the Sears makeover proposal will not only upgrade the existing structure into a small-shop retail and food center, it will also pave new pedestrian walkways and seating areas on the building’s street level. The development’s middle floors, which would be filled with contemporary-style offices and a marketplace, will receive lots of natural lighting due to its translucent ceilings and contemporary-style offices.

Prospective tenants can also enjoy the new brewery on the building’s rooftop level, with several cushy lounge areas, gathering spaces, and views overlooking the city’s landscape and its glassy marketplace building.

House & Robertson Architects, an architecture firm headquartered in Culver City, has been tapped to design the development.
