Frost/Chaddock Developers have officially filed for permission to begin building a hotel on Sunset Junction, located at the intersection of Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards in Silver Lake. This would be the first of three structures on the site.

The Department of City Planning has yet to even approve the Sunset Junction project let alone the permits, which was initially proposed back in 2012. Locals have since voiced concerns about the proposed development’s potential impact on the community’s character and traffic. When it was unveiled last year that one of the buildings would be a hotel, the developers received even more pushback.

According to renderings designed by The Killefer Flammang Architects, the four-story building formerly known as the Bates Motel (but not that Bates Motel) would include 108 residential units and commercial/retail space. Because current timelines and plans are still changing, construction probably won’t start anytime soon.
