Yerba Buena Elementary School

The school is small with a lot of great teachers, kids, and parents. It's a great community with a lot of wonderful down to earth people. However, if your child is not a strong reader, this is not the school for you. About 40-50% of children learn to read with little instruction. Those children will do well here. If that is not your child, the school does not offer explicit reading instruction. This is first year they have had a part time reading specialist when other schools in the district have multiple reading specialists. However, unless your child is 2-3 years behind in reading they won't actually get help from the specialist. I've spoken to numerous parents who have all had to hire outside tutors to teach their kids to read because the school does not. If your child fits perfectly in a box, this is an amazing school. If they need extra help, send them to any other school in the district with resources to teach your child.

This is an excellent school. Teachers and staff are so caring and go out of their way to help kids succeed.

We moved to YB in 2nd grade and have been very pleased. It is a smaller school which I like and the families are very nice as are the kids. The school is tucked away and has a really nice physical campus. Teachers and staff care and work hard and my kids have flourished.

I’m so grateful that the “no homework” trend has caught on at our amazing school. More time for extracurricular activities and less stress for the kids!
