Encinal is a truly amazing school. The teachers care about their students and put in the time to make sure that they succeed. They create open lines of communication with students that help them to get what they need to do well in classes. Along with this, EHS offers rigorous courses including the new genomics program and a huge selection of APs across many grade levels. Perhaps the most amazing part about Encinal though is the community. At EHS, there's a place for everyone to get involved and students are encouraged to try out lots of things. There is an emphasis on the fact that getting ready for college is not only about classes but also about finding your interests and impacting your school community. At EHS, you can be in band, play on the water polo team, be class president, and be in the musical and no one judges you, you just have a larger friend group. Because of this inclusivity, EHS is not "cliquey" and there is not very much bullying or exclusion despite the fact that these things are often seen at other high schools. Instead, most students are friendly with one another. The school makes a conscious and intentional effort to continue improving and growing, especially when it comes to equity and equality among students. This is reflected upon the students creating politically active and incredibly aware young people who are compassionate towards others and are willing to fight for changes they want to see in the world. I cannot recommend this school enough. Go jets!

The school has an incredible principal who is capably leading it in all educational arenas. The staff works tirelessly to achieve equity for all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, language, sexual orientation and socioeconomic background,. The staff participate in extensive professional development and the common core, ELD, positive behavior behavior support, and restorative justice. The Junior Jets Middle School program provides a seamless transition to high school. There is impressive school spirit the permits academics and athletics.

This school may have great academics, but no one here is very nice. You feel segregated for being yourself and bullied for being yourself. All the teachers here are moody and get pregnant and blame everything on their students. They don't even have an arts program... 0 stars if I could because it's totally not worth it
