My second daughter is currently attending this school. I pulled my first daughter from Lincoln in seventh grade due to bullying problems with the boys - not the girls, as one might expect. I did not feel that the school was a welcoming place then, and the behavior of many of the students left much to be desired. Now that we have tried one of the local charter schools instead of Lincoln, I can say unreservedly that the academics at Lincoln FAR surpass what is on offer at other locations. The peer group is very well prepared and the teachers overall are good to excellent. There are some bad eggs, but the administration knows who they are and is doing its best to ameliorate the harm that they cause. My second daughter’s homework load has been quite reasonable, and her teachers are excellent. She also had an incident with a boy and this time I was far happier with the school’s response. I think that the administration is working hard to make Lincoln a friendlier place and its work is paying off.The band program is truly excellent and a wonderful way for your child to experience the school. The teacher, although very demanding, really seems to have a knack for determining what a student will be good at and getting the best work possible out of them. I have an elementary-aged son in a private school, and I have to say that Lincoln comes as close as possible to delivering a private school education with its more limited resources. Overall, we are very happy at Lincoln.

Lincoln has the strongest academic program of all the public schools in Alameda and maybe a better program than the private schools as well. Teachers work hard to meet the needs of a diverse range of students. The plethora of electives that are offered make it overall a great experience for kids.

This school is stuck in the 20th century, and many of the teachers teach like it. The math and science department are weak ( save 2-3 teachers). My student was not taught common core in a meaningful way in 7th grade....a lot of busy work.

The abnormally large amount of homework at LMS is only one problem among the many great experiences you're destined to have here. 10/10 would go again
