Worst school in the state of California. The several letters we received regarding the low test scores and the option to send my son out of district because they couldn't keep up with the "No Kid Left Behind" standards, proves this. My son was a "A" and "B" student for years. We unfortunately moved to Alhambra and this school nearly destroyed him. Not just academically, but emotionally and mentally as well. He was being bullied extremely bad, mostly because he was white and blonde with blue eyes. It started to get really out of hand, and when we contacted the principal, we thought the problem would be taken care of. WRONG!!! The principal made it worst by by calling the bully kid in, and made my son wait outside her office while she "didn't mention any names" to the bully kid!! My son ended the year barely passing. And they wouldn't even let him walk at the graduation! They made us pay for a cap and gown, then turned around and told us he couldn't participate and made him and the few other kids that weren't walking, sit and watch all the fun activities the other kids got to be a part of. Like a punishment! He did nothing wrong!! The teachers are very biased as well, except one blonde lady (can't remember her name). She was the only positive thing at this school and the only person who kept him going. She was hard on him, and challenged him, but she also kept him from giving up completely. I detest this school, and I"m so glad we moved away from Alhambra and back to where my son grew up, he has now graduated high school and attending college. Northrup wouldn't even transfer his records over to his high school, so he had to work extra hard to make up for credits that they wouldn't give him credit for! Hate hate hate this school.
