The best, well-rounded education experience for my children was at El Rancho Charter School! El Rancho prepared them for a successful and high-achieving high school experience through to the 4-year university level. They actually have their best recollection of their middle school teachers. The El Rancho elective opportunities and dynamic teachers are unmatched.

While the school has positive attributes, we cannot recommend this school. Some of the teachers and the administration feel compelled to indoctrinate the children to their beliefs. We mentioned this to Mrs. Walker once, but nothing changed. Most of the teachers and staff care about the children and do their job well, but some appear to have an agenda that has no place in school. If you're in a position to do so, consider sending your children to private school. We regret not doing this.

Our experience at this school so for has been overall very negative. Considering that El Rancho has the responsibility of educating our children through a pandemic, they are doing a terrible job adjusting to a distance learning model. My child is online all day for normal school hours, and then has hours of homework every night. She's literally staring at a screen from breakfast until dinner. Teachers don't want parent involvement (nor does the administration, who seems to be intentionally hiding contact information from parents), yet some teachers sent out multiple REMIND text messages (parents are required to sign up), about classes that are general--so may or may not be relevant to your child. One teacher has sent out multiple threats about turning in work, finally ending by informing parents and students that not turning in the assignment was "crushing" their child's grade. This is also a teacher who penalizes students who aren't able to print on demand by forcing the student to hand-copy any worksheet that they don't have (she could post the worksheets prior to the class, but she refuses to because she doesn't want students to work ahead). My take-away from our experience so far this year is that some of the teachers at this school don't like the students they're teaching. That message comes through loud and clear.

Terrible administration at this school. Academic advisors do not work with students to encourage their success. They act as if they know your child better than you do and dictate their success or failure at their whim with NO collaborative consultation or consideration. They act as the end all and be all and feel they have free reign because of their charter status. Clear abuse of power.
