This school is a great school. Many activities for kids to help them with their self esteem and teachers have open door policy for their students.
Bristow is an amazing school that has many opportunities for students. There are lots of clubs and sports for students to be involved. The academics are good, the teachers really care about the students. The Leadership class, FOR prigram and other programs like WEB make it close knit campus Amazing school
Teachers here are sincerely dedicated to the success of each and every student. They are very open to communication with parents and will even work after hours for school clubs that they helped students set up. Science, social studies, mathematics teachers are truly wonderful. We were blessed with having one amazing teacher after another throughout our experience at Bristow. The music and choir programs under the tutelage of Mark Morello are phenomenal. Never once has anyone reported a case of bullying in the 3 yrs that my child was there- in part because of wonderful programs such as "Friends of Rachel" (FOR CLUB) and a very close knit, supportive, school environment. There are no "sexting" scandals or drug and alcohol use problems here- as in other local middle schools. We were very fortunate to have had a child go to Bristow Middle School.
My oldest daughter started here in seventh grade. It's not easy starting anywhere when you are the new kid - especially at this grade level. However, the WEB program really helped her adjust quickly. The teachers are great, the office staff, principal and vice pricipals have all been very accessible and responsive whenever I have sought their assistance. They seem to genuinely care about each student. Just as with any school - private or public, there are going to be issues at times with teachers and students that don't see eye-to-eye. But, the staff has always been helpful whenever I've sought their assistance. My only real issue is that the dress code is not strictly enforced - ie. the girls wear shorts that expose their but cheeks if they bend over. Also, the counselor tends to over-involve herself into students personal lives without proper therapy training - she does more harm than good. As with any school, if you get involved as an active parent, your children and yourself will have better experiences overall.
