I have been a parent at Tierra Linda since 2009. This is my last year since my youngest is in 5th grade. Tierra Linda has been a great school for both of my kids. I am surprised to see a few of these bad reviews. This school has always been great, it's gotten even better now that our newer principal has really taken pride in the school and made many improvements. I am very involved in this school and have seen and heard parents moving in TL's boundaries to make sure they attend. Our family involvement is great...this school is the total package. PTA is great, technology is great, great teachers that care. I have proof...most of the kids on the honor society in middle school are Tierra Linda Kids...I am very proud of this school.

A good year depends on the teacher you get. My daughter loves her teacher but very little hw and not very challenging. My daughter also finishes her weeks hw within 30 minutes on Monday. No afterschool activities at all, paid or unpaid. School buses to pick up kids in the morning and drop them off after school???? Wouldn't that be nice. How can you have an Elementary School and no Winter Concert? How sad that the school cannot put a little effort into having a concert once a year. My daughter got hurt on the playground where I had to pay a doctor and the school did not take responsibility, saying that they have enough supervisors during lunch. 4-5 adults for that many kids I'm surprised more accidents don't happen. Overall, the last 2 years my daughter has had great teachers that care about her, which is appreciated.

I am very pleased with Tierra Linda and its teachers. Mu two children have done very well at this school (since 2010). The new principal is outstanding and I am amazed to see the parent involvement.

Our son attended Tierra Linda in 2011 and we could not have had worse experience. We met with the principal and our son's kindergarden teacher on numerous occasions regarding our son's behavior, each time we remained optimistic. That was until we received an email from the teacher explaining how our son was "the worst student she has ever had in 25 years of teaching" and the principal she basically backed up the teacher. Our son was pulled immediately from TL and the disrict. We enrolled our son in another public school outside of the district where he was tested and placed in the elementary school's gifted program. His class room behavior and attitude towards school improved overnight. No one, especially his teachers at his new school, could believe the nightmare we had gone through at Tierra Linda. Don't let the teachers and the principal bully you and tell you that your student is a problem or a bad kid As one other reviewer referred to below, they are essentially looking to get rid of any child deemed a problem so they can artificially raise their test score rather then raise their test scores through excellent teaching. Good luck TL and good riddance!!!
