Great school so far! The Principal Mrs. Martin and my son's teacher Mrs. Heynes are great!
The school is terrible, and so is the principal. Many, if not all of the teachers complain about her when she is not around. The principal is arrogant and is always talking about raising the school's test scores, however it seems she only wants to achieve that to improve her own image. She has been the principal at Broadacres for a few years now, and the school has gotten worse every year she has been there. She discourages parent/teacher communication. The principal is always telling parents the school is a "closed campus"; it seems as though she does not want parents to go into their child's classroom to observe the teaching, or lack thereof. There are various "combination classes" which consist of one teacher teaching students of two different grade levels. That is possibly done to avoid hiring more teachers. She pretends she wants more parent involvement, however when parents make complaints or suggestions regarding the school, she does not want to listen. The students are severely underachieving compared to other students on their grade level. Many of the teachers are lazy and seem uninterested in the students actually learning. They do not care if the children learn or not.
Great school with motivated and dedicated teachers. The staff is friendly and the campus is beautiful. As I read previous comments, it saddened me to hear that some people has negative feelings toward the school. My 4 children attended this school which gave them a solid foundation for middle and high school. All were accepted into universities upon graduation. My grandchildren now attend on permit because the teachers teach the standards. People need to realize that it takes more than the administrator to ensure student success. It takes a partnership of parents, students, and staff to make an effective school. Everyone needs to do their part, because it's everyone's responsibility. I appreciate Broadacres. It's really a great school.
Broadacres is a GOOD school with a larger number of parents beginning to participate in school wide activities. The principal spends a lot of time educating families about student learning as opposed to giving a few difficult parents a place to threaten others when they don't get their way. Most students who leave Broadacres are those with ongoing problems that parents refuse to acknowledge. The staff is great and I only see the student outcomes getting better when student learning remains the priority.
