Not sure where my first review went. It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't accepted. This school is bad news. My son came their with high self esteem and strong academics. He left with his head down. The school threatened to remove him constantly. If they are 2 minutes late, if they can't keep up with the curriculum, or if they get into any trouble, the school threatens to kick them out. The principle is extremely rude, the teachers ... lets just say they caused us to hire a private tutor. They most likely only have high test scores because they criminalize and remove the students who need guidance. Want your kid to develop confidence issues? This is the school for you. I would give negative stars if possible.

We absolutely love this school. The teachers are passionate about helping all of the kids learn. The new, now full-time principal has provided even greater focus. We like the small school size and sense of community among the parents. The PTA is great and seem to fill in all of the technology deficits that come from budget cuts. Overall, an amazing small school.

Palomares is a little gem in the CVUSD. This is my son s school. It's a small, supportive and caring school with interesting academics. We love how this small school with great teachers and parents involvements. Great public elementary school.

Although a review will spill the secret...I do think this is one of the best kept secrets in Castro Valley. We have a small student population, a great dedicated staff of teachers, a vibrant parent community and an environmental treasure for on site learning - our creek. In a time of budget cuts and declining education, I feel privileged to call Palomares our home school.
