Meadow Homes Elementary School

The posts for this school are very outdated. A new principal has been in place for several years. She is well-qualified and well-liked. The number of kids per classroom has gone down, plus there is a new "wheel" schedule there that gives the kids access to music and arts programs from specialized teachers. I volunteer at the school. I always have a good experience. It seems like the kids love their school and feel like they are learning and progressing. Plus, there is agreat deal of bi-lingual stuff going on. That can only be a plus for students who continue to live and work in California. I think that the API test scores are inflated to favor English-only kids. I would not hesitate to send a child to Meadow Homes Elementary.

This school is highly unsatisfactory. 2011-2012 Back To School Night was conducted entirely in Spanish for grades K-2. It was a supreme waste of my time to be welcomed back to school and told about the staff and school goals in a language I do not understand. Dual immersion learning has created an unsavory environment for non-Spanish speaking parents and students. I am transferring my children out. Sad that public funds are so poorly disbursed and managed.

As a former foreigner student (1971) at Meadow Homes I wish my kids could attend this school as it has helped me on my career. Ron de Groot - The Netherlands.
