Review is for Grades 7-8 as we plan to move to another high school in the future. Alright so let me get started with the environment at the school, on the outside its appearance looks very new and modern, but upon looking inside many of the class rooms are still outdated with the exception of the enclave side. Men's bathrooms aren't in good shape is one bathroom has a broken stall door and the other bathroom near the enclave has been missing soap for over a month, which I believe is a health concern. As my son tells me, he never feels comfortable using the either restroom as groups of kids enter the bathroom and start yelling, screaming, and banging on the stall doors. On the educational side, there are some materials that are very well taught while others need to be re-plannned as the order some parts of a material aren't taught very well. No comments on food and my son doesn't eat lunch or nutrition at school. The general vibe that the school gives off can be sort of overwhelming as many things albeit not necessary, will cost money. Some teachers are friendly and inviting while others are more strict.
This is for the middle school. The curriculum is quite easy for the average classes and for some honors classes. It seems to cater more toward the medium to lower end on the academic scale so that most will do well with A's or B's. If the same course was taken in irvine or Newport, the same student would probably do no better than C.Some of the teachers are great and are progressive in their approach to educate the young minds. Others are quite stale in their approach using the same tests year after year. The principal and counselor should review the curriculum, the students and always be challenging the students. They are some kids with less than a 3.0 avg in honors classes... they are clearly misplaced and should be reviewed. The school activities and encouragement to get involve are strong, so that is a plus. I am sure there are cliques, but I have not heard of any bullying. Another plus for rhe school for creating a positive environment. So that parents stop taking their kids to another school, I recommend CMMS step up their offerings for stronger STEM classes and make sure all your students are appropriately placed in the classes that would nurture and educate them the most.
I have spent my entire middle and high school years here. All of the teachers encourage student success, and that kind of environment is very welcoming. As for grades, the scores tend to be balanced between high and low, leading to an unsurprisingly average 'C' grade. Although there are some very intelligent students, there are also students who do not bother trying, which is probably due to something that occurs in their life, such as family problems or negative influence. Speaking of which, drugs have little-to-no influence in this secure school, and are severely punished if detected. One of the most positive things I love about this school is the dedication of the staff. They work extremely hard to help students with anything in general, and sometimes they organize a class event as a reward for the students' efforts to succeed through school. Overall, I am absolutely proud to have gone to this high school and I cherish every memory acquired here.
this school is great! Jeffrey should come here. very good in academics, great staff and so forth.
