My child has attended this school for 3 years. It’s smaller size has made making friends & knowing teachers much easier than a larger high school. When my child graduates they will have a year+ of transferrable college credit. The school really excels at preparing the kids for college and test prep for the SAT with practice and coaching. My only major complaint as a parent is the workload can be too heavy at times with too many group projects/tests on the same days. I think if the teachers coordinated better this would improve a lot. Even with that issue I highly recommend this as an alternative to a large high school. My child has matured alot in the last 3 years and we are grateful for a safe and solid college prep school with a caring environment in NMUSD. *Just a note too- ECHS doesn’t have AP classes, just actual classes for college credit. By greatschools metric it looks like the school is lacking college prep which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Our daughter has been at ECH for two years. She loves the smaller size of the school, the house competitions and likes all of her teachers. The principle, Dr. Martinez, is highly visible and familiar with the students, as are the staff. She has good friends at this school. The only thing she is not too keen about is the homework load. She is in advanced classes and while she gets top grades, finds the workload challenging. While I agree, I also know that my daughter intends to continue on to a four year degree and beyond, so it's good training!

Great environment ! You feel like your part of a family here and it's not all books as some would say, sports are trying to be added so that shouldn't be an issue for those who want to stop doing sports .

I previously attended this high school up to my senior year and had to move due to family reasons and found from comparison to the other Early College High School that the quality of education received here is below par and the promises of college credits should be discredited. When I first entered the campus in Freshman year the students all seemed to click as they were here for the same reason, to attain a High School Diploma as well as some college credits. But as classes started and the school years went by, the high school showed it's true colors. Most of the teachers were all but helpful and mainly taught the material as they read it in the textbooks, and the new courses were taught by unqualified teachers that were majored in another area of study, they also allowed for extensive notes that could be used on the exams. They also taught based on their liking more than on the districts standards. The award ceremonies were a joke as most of the student awards went to students who would make a teacher smile and befriend them instead of basing the awards on academic/moral success. The college teachers were unqualified to teach and had no idea what to teach. In total, subpar.
