The teachers are great. Not thrilled that there's a new principal, but I'm looking forward to see how she does. The prior one was excellent. This school is a year-round school. Due to the pandemic, all schools in the Cypress school district are regular schedule now. I love the fact that math and reading are key focuses!! I hope we get back up to a 10 score!

This school has excellent teachers and a new caring Principal who keeps parents well-informed. The teachers expect a lot and there is a lot of homework, but my daughter has excelled at this school with its advanced curriculum. My 3rd grade daughter, required to read for 30 minutes a day, now reads at the 6th grade level. Her writing has improved dramatically. She aces most math tests and the teachers drill her twice a week on addition facts, allowing only a minute and a half to do 30 addition problems. My 2nd daughter, who just finished Kindergarten, was already expected to do research on Ocean Animals and then make an oral presentation. She needs extra assistance on math, but the caring teachers are willing to go out of their way to help. The school is on top of the latest learning systems such as Common Core, Reading Counts/Lexile Scoring, and Thinking Maps. The Principal offers educational classes to parents to help them understand the new tools and assist their children in maximizing the tools' effectiveness. The student pickup/dropoff has improved and security at the campus has improved with the installation of fences and better control of entrances.

My child has been at landell for 6 years and I'm sad to say the once pristine school has lost it's luster. Wonderful teachers have retired or left and the school is on its 3rd principal in the last 5 years. The new principal has no prior experience and is using the school as her pet project. The children are becoming increasingly disheartened and feel they no longer have a voice. I loved this school but I am thinking of switching schools. Several students this last year have transferred to other cypress schools due to the complete disorganization of the teaching staff and incompetence of the new principal. The teachers dress like frat boys and sorority girls rather than role models for our children.

I've known many families over the years who have had children attend Landell School and they have had great experiences. It's a shame that just a few people with a few bad experiences post here and make it sound like the staff is bad. When you have so many families and students, there are bound to be a few people that are unhappy. It just seems that those are the ones who post instead of the happy ones. Just review Landell's stats and scores and how people continue to want to get their students into that school. They are definitely doing something right. Hey, if the school didn't fit for you, I'm sure you will find the one out there somewhere that's a better fit.
