My son has finished his first semester at SRVHS, so we are still getting to know the school. The teachers and administration have been very professional and are clearly interested in making the school a welcoming and supportive place for students and their families. This year the school has implemented "bring your own device" so that every student has a Chromebook to use in all their classes and at home. There is a modified block schedule so that 2 days a week have just 3 classes in them, while the other 3 days a week have all 6 classes. They have also changed their schedule so that students get 2 access periods a week when they can ask their teachers for extra help, or just do some of their homework. There is also a homeroom once a week so that core classes are not interrupted when the school needs to communicate with students. This year the racial bullying that occurred in other schools nearby was immediately addressed with the students at SRVHS and no such incidents have occurred at this point. I notice that the students really enjoy their school spirit events, which occur regularly. The parent community is very supportive. The principal has been cheerful, responsive, and engaged with students, parents, and teachers. I am very happy that my son is going to school here.

SRVHS needs some re-vamping. If you have access to the Standford Challenge Sucess Survey you probably should read it. Pretty eye-opening insight regarding the students perception of the school! For a public school, the amount of "volunteer donation" is ridiculos especially when you take into consideration that the "popular" activites seem to reap the most financial benefit. I would appreciate more resources spent on assisting the students that need academic support and resources. A fair majority of teachers are not available to the students for assistance and the rate of "losing" papers/homework by the teachers is staggering. There is a definite Teacher's Union mentality that reflects the caliber of many of the educators at SRVHS. If colleges look strictly at transcript grades the colleges may be loosing some really good student. Unfortunately, the grading system is questionable as to what the students are truly "learning" versus graded on.

I am a student at SRV, and it is the BEST school around here! More than 200 students from MV try to transfer to SRV, so that says a lot about this school! SRV has amazing teachers that have office hours for students to come whenever they want! They are so helpful and love to participate in school activities! Recently, the staff participated in dodgeball against Alumni! SRV is SUPER spirited! You will not find any other highschool as spirited as this one! The Leadership program is amazing who is ran by Willford! A few things at SRV is, homecoming dress up days with prizes and fireworks, its it days, otter pop days, free pizza, fireworks, dodgeball, greek games, powderpuff, sadies, ball, prom, aloha dance, TONS of rallys, corn startch throw, and SOOO much more!!!!! Everyone wears green and gold at this school! They are proud to be Wolves and we are all a family! We may all be different at SRV, but we are a FAMILY and we unite against other schools. Best academic school and forsure the most SPIRITED!!!! GO WOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
