We have loved our experience at Sycamore. The teachers are passionate, hard-working, and creative! The principal is a wonderful leader who is a good listener, collaborator, and loves working with children. Our kids love spending time with her during her monthly character trait read alouds.

We moved from the Pleasanton and, although we enjoyed 2 years of PUSD, we are much happier with Sycamore Valley. I feel there is a good balance among academics, character building, community, etc... When my son was having issues with a few other students his teacher helped resolve and things have been great. We're happy to continue the journey here at Sycamore!

There is too much emphasis on being cool over academics, and the administration is largely dependent on parents. I know this is everywhere these days but it is particularly pronounced here.

Kindergarten is over crowded (1:26) and there are NO full-time Paraeducators in the classes to help the teachers. So if your child struggles in any area, this will not be the right school for you. Plan on teaching them at home because they will NOT get the extra attention or time they might require...the schools solution if your child is falling behind in any given area is to retain them. Teachers want to help but their hands are tied. They just don't have the time with 26 children. The school heavily relies on parent volunteers. Security is extremely poor and the principals reaction when I questioned it was "we are up a hill on a private street and nothing has ever happened yet." Not acceptable!!Overall, I'm not a fan of this school at all.
