I cannot speak for the experiences of the current students but this is my experience from the late 2000s. My grades were average/good, and I was blessed with some fantastic math teachers (and math is not my favorite subject), but unfortunately I also came across some truly bad apples in other areas. To be clear, it was long term, trusted teachers who humiliated me in front of my peers. This was not punishment for wrong doing—I was a quiet, well-behaved student—they were just mean. As I get older, I look back in awe at the sheer immaturity and unprofessionalism displayed. Playing favorites, snarky comments, sarcasm, cruelty. Most devastating was the lack of support. I became afraid to ask for help.

Holmes is so far the best Jr. high in Davis, but we are disappointed to see it getting worse.

I agree with the last parent comment. My children have come home crying almost everyday because they feel that they do not fit in and they are being bullied. I have brought this up to the principle and vice principle and nothing has happened. my children are getting notes in their lockers that are calling them inappropriate language. I am transferring them to Harper Jr. High. That is a good school.

Holmes can be a good school, but they do not communicate good with the students. They are good academically but not when it comes to students have problems with other students, teachers, etc. The councilors (psychiatrists) are not that great either, they simply cannot solve the children's problems but think they can. I do not recommend this school, they give to much homework compared to many other schools. And this is an average school. I have had my kids come home crying and end up eating by themselves because of the teachers and students there. Like I said I DO NOT recommend this school, I am transferring my kids to another school. The teachers pick favorites, and many kids smuggle and sell drugs there. It is NOT a good school. All the other schools in davis are WAY better, kinder, safer, more including, and I love the other schools, that's where I'm putting my kids.
