The best middle school in California. I wouldn’t want my kids anywhere else.

I am an 8th grader at this school, and going into 9th and throughout all the 3 years that I have been here, the school was really awesome. They have great programs here including gate, CJSF, web, and student senate. They should really add a couple more electives her but overall they are the best. The teachers are really supportive in everything you do. Whenever some sort of bullying happens, the school makes sure to address it instead of ignoring it. BEST SCHOOL IN DOWNEY!

2012-2013 was my son's first year at East Middle school. I was quite pleased with the decision we made to apply for East through lottery. My husband and I appreciated the content of his curriculum and the availability of the different clubs he could join and meet others with the same interest. Academically we thought that his reading and comprehension improved tremendously. We look forward to his 7th grade year starting in Sept. 2013. Furthermore, I would also like to convey how much I appreciated the open communication that I had with his teachers. As working parents it is important to be able to communicate with the teachers about how things are going and/or if there are questions. All my son's teachers responded within 24 hours of me sending them an email. Thank you 6th grade teachers for all you do to ensure a smooth transition from 5th to 6th grade.

East Middle School is a great school. They have the best choices of electives such as band and Es1. The students are getting smarter probably because more are joining band. It is sad that Mrs. Richardson is retiring. The amount of homework given is fine since some teachers give out projects every five seconds. Overall this is a fantastic school.
