There are pros and cons. The pros are it is a safe environment that promotes strong character growth. The negative is there are some substandard teachers that are allowed to continue to "teach" there.

I haven't had any experience in detail yet. We currently live in Lodi, California and my kids go to Elkhorn Gate school. My kids didn't want to move. But after I took them to Rolling Hills open house, they immediately knew the difference and they agreed to moving and they now are very excited. This is the only place where you can get all Elementary, middle and high school next to each other with score of 10, 9 and 10 respectively. If you live near by, your kid can walk to all schools from K to 12. Great schools and great locations. Will update once my kids start here.

I recommend this school. The teachers are great and there are fun activities during and after school. The only downside is the band class. The teacher does not teach you anything and you have to learn how to play yourself. He only gives you music and yells at you for playing it wrong. Also, he looks down on the younger students, like the 7th graders playing with the 8th graders. Other than that, this school is Excellent!

After moving here from Orange County and spending the first half of the year with my daughter enrolled at local private school (Golden Hills Academy) we moved her to Rolling Hills Middle School. I could not be more pleased. My daughter spent K-7 at a highly accredited private school in OC. I though the private school here would be the correct transition. I could not have been more wrong! After moving my child to Rolling HIlls due to so many inadequacies at the private school, they identified that she was behind in both Spanish( the Spanish text book at the private school here in 8th grade was the one the 7th grade currently uses at both Rolling HIlls and my child's previous private school in OC putting my daughter 6 months behind) and Math. The teachers have been wonderful to her, spending extra time with her to get caught up and even having her as a Spanish aide to offset her disappointment when she couldn't test into their Spanish program. The kids have been great and after first day jitters all made sure she was welcome. Private education doesn't always equal better. RH Teacher also just named Teacher of the Month by community. Excellent School!
