Bernardo Elementary School

Bernardo is an amazing elementary school. Our girls have been there for TK and Kinder, we love all the teachers and staff. A wonderful, loving environment for children to grow and learn.

We loved many aspects of Bernardo. I’m saddened to write this. On 5/22/2020, I went to Bernardo for my child’s last day of school (COVID style). I was in tears. It was so emotional. I parked to wait for my child’s teacher when I heard a teacher behind me to my right say to her another fellow teacher, “nice car.” The other teacher said, “that car is like $70,000” (it is not), and the first teacher responded with, “privileged”. I was already in tears and I do drive a nice car, but I looked around thinking maybe they were talking about another car. There wasn’t another car they could have been talking about. If it was about another car that’s still horrible!!! If it was about me they know nothing about me. Nobody paid for my college or joined the army at 17 for me or moved across the country as a single parent with $200 to go to school for me. This saddens me beyond no end that people are so rude and judgmental. There are many good teachers here, but if this is what two teachers are comfortable talking about I don’t want my child going here. They had on masks so probably think I couldn’t hear.

Our 6th year here and I am SO impressed with Bernardo. Amazing teachers, and parents are encouraged to be involved. They finally brought back the gate program and it seems they are starting to understand the need to provide resources for their advanced students. Lots of enrichment opportunities. Couldn't have asked for a better elementary school experience for my kids.

Such a awesome school! Have a current 5th grader and a 7th grader who attended Bernardo and loved every minute! Awesome teachers and principal !
