I've enjoyed our journey. 2 kids moved over from private school. A great school.

The Garden Park Staff is amazing. GP was going through renovations during the 2012-2013 school year so we were temporarily moved to Patton Elem. I appreciate GP even more after being exposed to the other larger school. The teachers went out of their way (as they always do) to make sure the kids were taken care of first and foremost during the transition. Next year 2013-2014 we will be back on our own campus and can t wait!!! Teachers spend a lot of their own time providing extras for our kids. The art program, music program, RAD Kids self defense class, book club, science fair and pentathlon team are just a few examples. The principal is very approachable and accommodating. He is amazing at getting kids involved through incentives like the Million Word Club and you will always see him on the playground with the kids. Couldn t be happier with this school!!!!

in regards to the previous post. i disagree with you. my daughters teacher acted like i was bothering her every time i had a concern, and barely recognized me when i participated in class/school functions.maybe my case is unique compared to what you observe at gp,but i have never felt so unwelcome in a school.

This is for the previous post. I disagree with the lack of friendliness, especially in regard to the PTA. There are many opportunities to be involved with the school and the PTA which don't take a large amount of time. The PTA goes out of their way to get to know new families. If you have not been to a Flag Friday or other events it makes it difficult for people to get to know you and your daughter. My girls are at Garden Park and my son is at Patton. I can tell you first hand that GP is a friendly school with caring staff and parents. In two years at Patton, I have NEVER had a parent or staff acknowledge my presence with as little as a smile. I see parents at GP saying hello and or smiling at others as they pass each other in the morning and afternoon. Try saying hello to someone the next te you are on campus and I will be you will have a friend in no time!
