The staff at East Avenue is friendly, caring and very involved with each student. My kids have thrived since they have been going here and they especially love all of the special events that the PTA has.

As a substitute teacher I have taught different grades in this school. As usual there are the good students as well as those who don't think subs deserve any respect. The kindergarten and first grades are particularly challenging. Two of the students in kindergarten threw chairs, egged on by their classmates. This school seems to have a higher than average number of students with excessive behavior issues. I asked one of the other kindergarten teachers if she had any classroom management tips and she said that their regular teacher (without over 20 years experience) had a hard time with that class. My other experience with 6th graders was that they were incredibly rude. The principal and teachers seem to be committed to the students and keeping them in check. The librarian is particularly skilled at handling the students. Lastly, the office staff seems overwhelmed, disorganized and frustrated.

The Best school in Hayward, Safe for children, nice school, technology updated, faculty is great. Excellent teaching method. I happened to know because my son comes here, and I happened to volunteer once a week. I'm very happy with my son academic progress.

A community oriented school with excellent teachers that really care about their kids' education and creating well-rounded people. Overall, it is a good school. My daughter has been going there since kindergarten and now she is in 6th grade. She is really sad that it is her last year in this school.
