The students all seemed very proud to be Hay Balers. I believe a lot of the students have in great part because the staff is amazing. Clean campus, would definitely encourage future enrollment. Graduated a Hay Baler and would love to see my child graduate as one as well. I would like to see FFA remain part of the school as I see it helps keep San Benito special.

Fun and Diverse school . I am a student that is currently enrolled and I have to say this school is actually fun to be in one of my classes is comp. app rop and I have got to say it is really helpful, they are teaching us how to write in proper formats for when in college or when your applying for a job the teacher is also helpful if you mess up on something and you fall behind all you have to do is notify him and he helps you correct it and teaches you what you did wrong and how to avoid the making the mistake again.

I am a former teacher at SBHS and unfortunately I have to concur with the previous reviewer that it is a "below average school in every sense of the phrase." Administrators (especially the HR director and Curriculum Director) do not seem to have genuine concern for the academic development of the students--only the development of their own resumes and self-interest. Students are grossly underprepared in almost every subject and those who are at grade level are quickly falling behind due to the lack of rigor in classes. Teachers cannot make classes challenging because the board has adopted a "no-fail" policy that students are aware of--if more than 15% of students in a class are failing, the teacher is called in to explain for themselves. Students know that grades will be inflated and seem unmotivated to challenge themselves. Teacher reviews are ridiculously unhelpful. Administrators are not interested in helping new teachers get better, but in having an extremely high turnover as they "non-reelect"(layoff) almost all new teachers after 2 years. As a result, the staff is getting older and new ideas are not getting in. In short, I would NEVER send my kid here.

SBHS is a below average school in every sence of the phrase. It is overcrowded and underfunded, with sub-par teachers and sub-sub-par administration. If you have any other option, I urge you to give your children a better education. They will be shockingly unprepared for college after four years in fifty year old classrooms with 39 other students and one overwhelmed, underpaid teacher. Speaking as someone who grew up in Hollister and then moved out and moved on to go to college, get married, start a family, and have a career, I can tell you...this school is a GIANT barrier to a successful future.
