Our family loves this school! Through the years we’ve gone through changes but the truly strong Golden View families and staff has been the consistent rock. It takes a village to raise a child therefore the school you place your child in is important. How many kids can say their school has an animal farm! We live in the hustle and bustle of a city but our kids 6-7 hours a day are exposed to calm, safe environment of being near the 2 and 1/2 acres farm. Golden View is a hidden jewel in Huntington Beach.
Phenomenal! We LOVE the diversity, the small size, the teachers, the staff, the farm, the students, and the growth that continues from year to year!
The experience at Golden View, for both my 4th and 5th graders has been a wonderful experience. I love the farm, where each grade level has a focus and tasks they are responsible for. The environmental science is fantastic at building global impact on both citizens (how we treat each other) and environmental enthusiasts (how what we do effect the environment and world around). Lessons bleed into everything like using math graphing the plot and track proposed farm improvements, to composting trash , cooking vegetables grown from garden and solar powered light boxes!! I was worried about the open floor plan, but quickly realized what an asset this unique class room layout is. The students have times during the day when the “noisier” things happen and times that are dedicated to quieter instruction. It seems to work really well while also teaching students awareness of their own noise level and effect on those around. The consideration it teaches is fantastic. We came from a traditional school with walls dividing every classroom, and you could ALWAYS hear the students next door. Oddly enough, I think the layout without walls is an asset I really didn’t expect ( especially with a child with distraction issues). I’m not sure why the scores are so low. I’m guessing it may be a mix of second language learner challenges, and the fact that the teachers teach to the students , not the test. They truly create and environment of encouragement and positivity that is engaging and effective. It really is a hidden gem that feels more family like than institutional... even the front desk staff are so friendly and really helpful. It’s been a really great experience for us.
The school was an exceptional place for my three children, who were all different kinds of students. Disregard that "4" rating. The only thing I can see is that the algorithm marked it down because of the high percentage of white students. It also is lower in academic progress; that is likely because in 4th and 5th grades the top students are pealed off to the GATE program at Circle View, making Golden View look like a poor performer. The opposite is true: they are preparing top students, who transfer and seemingly pull down the "academic progress" score.
