I attended La Canada High School from the early to mid ‘80’s (class of ‘85). It was an awesome experience, and the standards regarding achieving academic excellence were high. Was a fun environment too. I feel very fortunate to have attended this high school and to have grown up in La Canada.

My two kids -- who are very different from each other -- went through La Canada schools from kindergarten through high school graduation. Over the years we met many of their classmates and socialized with many families of LCUSD students. My take: La Canada schools and the students' parents produce amazing young men and women who are well prepared to succeed in college and beyond.

One of the best school districts in the state for a good reason. Do NOT move to La Canada based off of some reviews on a website. Do your research and find out if it's the best fit. La Canada USD's educational experience is tough but every single graduate can go right into college without any issues. The high school WILL prepare your student for college, do not doubt that. I was more than a little frustrated about how this school system pushes college so hard. We are a family big on trade schools and the question that kids get asked when at LCHS (and even the elementary schools), is "where are you going to college?"...not "if" they're going to college. Overview: very academically-inclined schooling that will put your child on the right path.

We have lived here 15 years and I have three kids. One is gifted, one is a straight A student, and the other has ADHD and is a great kid. Since kindergarten the school is not provided any help or support to my one child with learning differences. I even tried to deny and ignore the fact that she had problems and simply shelled out thousands of dollars a month for tutors because the teachers were useless. The bottom line is that if you have a bright but average kid in this district They will end up at the bottom of their class and feel like they are stupid because there are so many hyper competitive parents and kids especially the Asian families and the JPL families who don’t even live in LCF. All the teachers attention and accolades go to the kids that take five or six AP classes at one time and exist on three hours of sleep a night. The teachers and administrators are complete hypocrites they do not care about the well-being of the students they only care about their standardized test scores so that residents are happy about their real estate prices. The counseling staff at the high school is a joke. What nobody tells you is that there’s so many high-performing overachieving hyper competitive students that it actually significantly reduces your child’s chances of getting into a decent college. Your child’s self-esteem and college chances are much improved if they just go to a regular school district instead of this one. Even the counseling staff will tell you this. luckily we have a beautiful home and could afford to live here BUT I regret moving here.
