I really like the admin and positive character building tone I see at Marshall. It’s really important with kids with disabilities and differences. I would recommend this school over Stanford for any special ed student in Long Beach. My son attended Stanford before being transferred to Marshall. Go see them both for yourself. My son has had a good experience and has one more year left at Marshall. I hope we can find a high school I have the confidence in that I do with Marshall staff.

Mrs. Grace has been our daughter's ELA teacher this year for seventh grade. Before this year and at different school getting our daughter to write was painful at best. By the end of the first quarter Mrs. Grace had her writing without parental prodding. Now close to the close of the school year our daughter writes just for the joy of putting words on a page. This enjoyment has carried over into all of her subjects in school. For a recent history project where the minimum text for the presentation was one page, she wrote three because that is what it took to make her points. We can't thank Mrs. Grace enough for the difference she has made this year and the lifelong gift she has given our child.

Although Mr. Navia is not there anymore, the school has not changed much. My son has done very well there and my daughter will be going there next year. As with any school, you have to constantly keep an eye on the grades through school loop. Teachers are human and make mistakes and it is wise to talk with a teacher if you see a problem developing. This school is great and the staff is excellent. I just wish LBUSD would stop moving people around.

The communication from this school is terrible. If you have any issues with your child at school, be prepared to handle it yourself.
