Awful, they claim they are against bullying but they have no plans in order to stop it. It ruined my daughter’s senior year.

Our son is in the STEMM and loves it. There's a nice vibe between the kids here- it's a very accepting environment. Most of the teachers seem to be well liked too. A great school if you want your child to encouraged not only academically but with a strong sense of fairness towards others from all different backgrounds and social groups.

Please be aware that the 2016 proficiency scores are MUCH better than those from recent prior years (for the state testing). This is largely since, in prior years, most of the 11th graders taking AP courses simply signed waivers, so as to study more for their AP tests, while skipping out on the state's common core testing. Well, this changed last spring (2016) and now Venice High state testing scores are as high and higher than neighboring lausd high schools (especially for the magnet students) -- see for example the school profile published with the 2016 testing scores, in US News .com . Those past 2015 proficiency scores (on the Greatschools website) reflect only the lower-performing half of the student body; since about 52% of students at Venice take AP courses (one or more), and they were the ones opting out of the state testing, this resulted in those inaccurate proficiency graphs, prior to 2016. Do go on tour at this school and you'll learn the truth -- great AP programs (and honors classes).
