One thing I am very happy about at this school is how much they appreciate parent involvement. While the district does make it harder and harder to be allowed on campus (livescan background checks and mandated-reporter testing are required for most volunteers), the office staff and the PTC all genuinely appreciate parent opinions and involvement, and find opportunities to volunteer for anyone who indicates a desire. PTC also works hard to raise and spend a lot of money on our kids, paying for field trips, school supplies, and activities for all students.

The head secretary in the office Christine is horribly rude to parents and children! Janis in the office is wonderful always welcoming and very helpful. The teachers are all very good ! It is terrible how one person can destroy what was once a wonderful family oriented school. Very disappointed

We have been here from the beginning and not happy at all. The principal, Mr. Ferreira is basically non-existent. If he is on campus, he will not make eye contact and is more concerned with Giants baseball than his school and students. The academics are lacking and the children seem to be left behind. They are labeled and stereotyped and not challenged educationally. The PTA is extremely cliquish and money hungry, very little of which is provided for students and school activities.Forget about school plays, talent shows or any other extra curricular activities. If it doesn't have something to do with money it's not happening. Don't worry about charging your camera batteries, you won't need them. Your child will be "awarded" at one of four school assemblies, but the actual award may not given until weeks later, then crumpled up in a backpack. This used to be a very good school, with caring and attentive teachers and staff. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Do your child a favor and find her a better education. Sherwood does not cut the mustard.
