We are going to be trying to get my nephew into my children’s school next year. His first year of school has been a horrible experience both for him and the family. I hope it doesn’t cause him to hate school. In the middle of the year his teacher decided she couldn’t deal with him anymore, so she and the principal switched his class in the middle of the trimester without speaking to his mother. His new teacher we adore and she has been genuinely trying very hard to work with him and for that we are grateful. There are a couple other problems we have experienced this year, such as the principal deciding that my nephew was not going to go on a field trip, which again, was not discussed with his mother. The pick up spot for his grade was changed after spring break so now it’s on a residential street with even less room and no where to park, unless you want to walk from Egypt. I tried to call the principal to speak about traffic direction so there would be enough room for all the parents to park and get in it out with less stress. She called my sister and said I was not in the system(I am in the emergency card) and told her there is no problem with the way things are being done. When I seen her in person I asked her if they could have someone just come in everyday and make everyone move forward like they do at my children’s school, she said she can’t make anyone move. Sounds to me like she just doesn’t want to deal with it. I think this school needs new direction and a better leader, it is as of right now, one of the worst schools I have ever experienced and I’m so sorry my nephew and his mother had such a horrible first year.

Overall, Sunnymeadows is a pretty good school. My son has done extremely well this year. His teacher is awesome! My only complaint, which I just realized this morning while talking to another parent, is that there haven't been any field trips this year - at least, not for his class or grade. The only 2 so-called field trips my son has had was a Perfect Attendance field trip to a local restaurant and another one to Chuck E. Cheese for selling over 30 See's products during a recent fundraiser. Don't get me wrong. I'm proud of my son for these rewards, however, what about field trips to a zoo? A museum? Another complaint that really doesn't have to do with the school itself but rather people in general is the TRAFFIC! OMG! People parking in the red zones, literally at the corner, or people running across Eucalyptus with their kids dodging traffic! Hello! There is a crosswalk at the corner with a very friendly crossing guard! Be safe than sorry, people!
